Not Listen to Polls

Well this is good!  I still say worrying about polls during the 2004 election cycle delayed action on Fallujah resulting in added casualties--so I hope this is a truthful statement heading into the 2006 election cycle!

Snow: Polls won't influence Iraq strategy
"The president understands how a war can wear on a nation," White House press secretary Tony Snow said. "Whatever the bleakness is, whatever the facts are on the ground, you figure out how to win. You can't do that by reading polls."

"Most people realize simply pulling out would be an absolute unmitigated disaster," Snow said.

What a Surprise

Though you and I may not agree with the writers arguments leading up to the action in Iraq--to my surprise the USA Today, actually published an opinion that is dead on accurate...  For  sometime now many, including me, have been saying setting a 'timetable' for withdrawal is a bad idea--glad to see the USA Today maybe waking up to reality!

USATODAY.com - Setting deadline for troops' withdrawal will backfire
U.S. troops should not stay in Iraq, as in Vietnam, purely for pride in a hopeless battle. They should remain, however, as long as there is a reasonable chance that they can bring some stability, reinforce the fledgling democratic government and prevent Iraq from becoming a haven for terrorists. Announcing a timetable for withdrawal, as Sen. John Kerry proposes (Kerry's resolution in the Senate was rejected 93-6 on Thursday), would just invite the insurgents to wait out the American presence.

Could you Blame Him?

Even if Tiger's failure to make the US Open cut was caused by his long layoff--can you blame his reasons for the layoff...  Come guys he is a human being!

106TH U.S. OPEN / Tiger way off course, misses cut
He refused to blame his poor play on the rust that accumulated the past two-plus months, while he took a sabbatical from the game to spend time with his ailing father and then mourn Earl's death. Before the tournament, Woods said he did not touch his clubs for more than a month.

Good Week GOP - Bad Week for Jackasses

Fine way to end the week for the Whitehouse--a really bad ending to the week for the 'cut and run' Democrats...  This news and the torpedo to the 'culture of courrtion' campaign, namely William Jefferson, is an end for a bad week for the DNC!

U.S. troop pullout timetable rejected by House
WASHINGTON - The U.S. House rejected setting a timetable for a military withdrawal from Iraq after a 10-hour debate Friday in which both parties previewed their election-year strategies on the controversial war.
Lawmakers approved, 255-153, a nonbinding GOP resolution stating that the Iraq conflict is part of the war on terrorism and no deadline should be set for pulling out the troops.

William Jefferson = No Power

William Jefferson is stripped of power--who would have thunk it after the way all politicians Republican and Democrat circled their wagons after the search...  Hmm, maybe there is hope for Democrats and politicians in general--nah, what was I thinking!

US House Removes Lawmaker from Committee Position Amid Bribery Probe
