Bad News

I have never been a real fan of allowing other governments to arrest, convict, and detain enemies of our country... But instead of taking a page from the left's handbook and immediately declaring incompetence I believe we should get more information on the HOW. Where is the outrage from the left -- OH, never mind there are no Americans to blame.

CNN.com - USS Cole plotter escapes prison - Feb 5, 2006

(CNN) -- Interpol has issued "an urgent global security alert" after 23 "dangerous individuals" -- including a man identified as the mastermind of the attack on the USS Cole in 2000 -- escaped from a Yemeni prison. The international crime-fighting organization said Sunday at least 13 of the 23 who escaped Friday were "convicted al Qaeda terrorists, some of whom were involved in attacks on U.S. and French ships in 2000 and 2002."

Economical Good News - What?

This can't be -- again the unemployment rate falls? This can't be, if we are to believe democrats! Lowest level since pre-9/11, what? How can this be?

FOXNews.com - Business News - U.S. Economy Adds 193,000 Jobs in Jan.; Unemployment Rate at 4.7%
WASHINGTON — U.S. employers added a smaller-than-forecast 193,000 new jobs in January but job growth in each of the five prior months was pushed up as part of a broader annual revision of the Labor Department's statistics collection, a government report on Friday showed. The monthly report showed the January unemployment rate dropped to a 4-1/2-year low 4.7 percent from 4.9 percent in December. The last time the rate was lower was in July 2001 when it was at 4.6 percent.

To Clarify

To clarify -- the victims and their families are in my thoughts and prayers and my earlier post was not meant to devalue the loss of life.

The certain politicizing of this tragedy, by the "gun control" crowd will -- in my opinion. I simply do not want discussion about the "tool" used overshadowing the individual's responsibility, but as usual fear it will!

Six Dead, One Critical in Calif. Shooting | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle
Authorities say Sanmarco shot six postal employees, killing five, before committing suicide Monday in what is believed to be the deadliest workplace shooting by a woman. A sixth victim was hospitalized in critical condition.

Pay Close Attention

The "gun control" crowd will jump all over this story -- I simply ask that we pay attention to "psychological problems"; speaks volumes.

We should also realize this happened in a prime example of a "Blue State"!

The next argument will be "she got the gun" -- well we all know that those intent on committing a crime will not obey any other law, but an "anti gun" law they will obey magically -- RIGHT!

CNN.com - Official: Shooter had 'psychological problems' - Jan 31, 2006
GOLETA, California (AP) -- A former postal worker who had been put on medical leave for psychological problems shot five people to death at a huge mail-processing center and then killed herself in what was believed to be the nation's deadliest workplace shooting ever carried out by a woman.

Can we Say "Told you So" - Now?

Just curious if "told you so" would be appropriate?

DEAN UNDER FIRE
Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill are privately bristling over Howard Dean’s management of the Democratic National Committee and have made those sentiments clear after new fundraising numbers showed he has spent nearly all the committee’s cash and has little left to support their efforts to gain seats this cycle, ROLL CALL reports. Congressional leaders were furious last week when they learned the DNC has just $5.5 million in the bank, compared to the Republican National Committee’s $34 million.

Just Another Moore Lie

Not big news, just another Michael Moore lie!

Michael Moore owns Halliburton!
"I don't own a single share of stock!" filmmaker Michael Moore proudly proclaimed. He's right. He doesn't own a single share. He owns tens of thousands of shares – including nearly 2,000 shares of Boeing, nearly 1,000 of Sonoco, more than 4,000 of Best Foods, more than 3,000 of Eli Lilly, more than 8,000 of Bank One and more than 2,000 of Halliburton, the company most vilified by Moore in "Fahrenheit 9/11."
If you want to see Moore's own signed Schedule D declaring his capital gains and losses where his stock ownership is listed, it's emblazoned on the cover of Peter Schweizer's new book, "Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy."

Can you Believe This!

It is a real shame and says a lot about the world we live in that this case(?) is even given the 'time of day'... God help us!

Priest could face trial for saying Jesus existed - Europe - MSNBC.com
VITERBO, Italy - An Italian judge heard arguments Friday on whether a small-town parish priest should stand trial for asserting that Jesus Christ existed. The priest’s atheist accuser, Luigi Cascioli, says the Roman Catholic Church has been deceiving people for 2,000 years with a fable that Christ existed, and that the Rev. Enrico Righi violated two Italian laws by reasserting the claim. Lawyers for Righi and Cascioli, old schoolmates, made their arguments in a brief, closed-door hearing before Judge Gaetano Mautone in Viterbo, north of Rome. They said they expected the judge to decide quickly.

Kerry Speaks - (LOL)

John Kerry, still campaigning in the 2004 Presidential race calls for a filibuster of Judge Alito... Though there is no support even from 'leading Democrats' Kerry continues his attempt to be "Joe Somebody"! I do love him, his comic routines cause me to start my day with a good laugh and we all know laughing is good for the soul.

I say he is still campaigning in the 2004 race because if he really feels he has a chance in 2008 he is truly "out of touch"!

Kerry Gets Cool Response to Call to Filibuster Alito - New York Times
But late Thursday afternoon, Mr. Kerry began calling fellow Democratic senators in a quixotic, last-minute effort for a filibuster to stop the nomination.

Democrats cringed and Republicans jeered at the awkwardness of his gesture, which almost no one in the Senate expects to succeed.

"God bless John Kerry," said Don Stewart, a spokesman for Senator John Cornyn, a Texas Republican on the Judiciary Committee. "He just cinched this whole nomination. With Senator Kerry, it is Christmas every day."

FOXNews.com - Politics News - Senate GOP Moves to Quash Filibuster Against Alito
"Continuing to threaten a filibuster, even after it is crystal clear that Democrats don't have the necessary votes to sustain their obstruction, is needless, strange and at odds with many of their fellow Democrats," said Sen. John Cornyn (news, bio, voting record), R-Texas.

Libby/Plame/Wilson

This "CIA Leak" deal is going to get interesting now. I must admit I lost interest during the "over blown" media coverage, but now we have the defense attorney has given notice he will be subpoenaing all the "journalist" and now wants all the prosecutor's files -- good! I want the American people to see how overblown this was and how many people outside the administration new the "Plame/Wilson" story and for how long! Maybe the "thinking" American will see the true motivation for the "witch hunt".

Defense Lawyers Seek Prosecution Data on Reporters in Leak Case - New York Times
WASHINGTON, Jan 26 — Lawyers for Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff asked a federal judge on Thursday to order the prosecutor in the C.I.A. leak case to turn over all documents in his possession related to what journalists knew from any source about the intelligence officer at the heart of the case. The lawyers for the former chief of staff, I. Lewis Libby Jr., said in their motion that the prosecutor, Patrick J. Fitzgerald, had refused to turn over to the defense documents that would shed light on whether any reporter knew about the C.I.A. officer, Valerie Wilson, before her name was first disclosed in a newspaper column on July 14, 2003.

Presidential Press Conference 09:15am (CST)

Just thought I would blog this. He (President Bush) looked and sounded great in the "question and answer" format a couple of days ago... However, this is a press conference and I will admit that he doesn't look as comfortable in this type scenario...

FOXNews.com - Politics News - Bush to Hold Press Conference
The president likely will continue to defend the use of wiretaps against some people inside the United States. His authorization of the National Security Agency program to conduct electronic surveillance against people inside the United States if they communicate with Al Qaeda-linked individuals overseas has come under fire recently from Democrats who say Bush overstepped his legal bounds.
Continuing the "Bush defends......" topic, I thought I would share this. I am not sure I agree with the use of 'defends', and believe the MSM uses it to give the impression the President is on the ropes -- he is NOT, but I am for him EXPLAINING his position.

VOA News - Bush Continues to Defend Domestic Spying Program
"The terrorists will do everything they can to strike us, and I am going to continue to do everything I can within my legal authority to stop them," said Mr. Bush.

Next!

Looks like Republican won another -- NEXT! What will be the next move by Democrats? Rehash the Rove/Chenney conspiracy theories over Plame, fall back on the oldie "Bush lied" -- I am not sure but it is sure to be both comical and entertaining.

FOXNews.com - Politics News - Senate Majority Commits to Confirm Alito
WASHINGTON — As the Senate begins its final debate on Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court, the conservative jurist already has won enough commitments from senators to become the nation's 110th justice and likely tilt the high court to the right.

The Best Conservative Campaign Manager

Michael Moore strikes again criticizing President Bush and the US and ensuring a conservative victory -- thanks Michael, keep it going!

Michael Moore disappointed by Harper victory
“Do you want to help George Bush by turning Canada into his latest conquest? Is that how you want millions of us down here to see you from now on? The next notch in the cowboy belt? C'mon, where's your Canadian pride? I mean, if you're going to reduce Canada to a cheap download of Bush & Co., then at least don't surrender so easily. Can't you wait until he threatens to bomb Regina? Make him work for it, for Pete's sake.”

She Needs a Clue

Ms Howell must have been been absent these last five years if this "hate" is a surprise. In response to the "hate mail" (see this post) she and the Washington Post got she seem oblivious to the fact this type hate has been directed at Republican politicians, Republican voters, and conservative journalist for sometime now. Maybe Ms. Howell only becomes aware of such hate when the far "left loonies" turn on her and the Washington Post. I would suggest she open her eyes and ears and listen to the comparison to Hitler, the wishes for death expressed for our President, and see the pies and such thrown at conservative speakers... Maybe if a little attention is paid to these details she and the 'Post' would not be so surprised.

The Firestorm Over My Column
But it is profoundly distressing if political discourse has sunk to a level where abusive name-calling and the crudest of sexual language are the norm, where facts have no place in an argument. This unbounded, unreasoning rage is not going to help this newspaper, this country or democracy.

Eating Their Own?

Aw is the "wittle" babies turning on their own? Be careful what you wish for... This demonstrates a fundamental difference between conservatives and liberals. I, a conservative, want any Republican as well as any Democrat nailed for illegal activity -- contrast that with liberals denial any Democrat does wrong... Funny ain't it?

Paper Shutters Blog After Ombudsman Post
WASHINGTON -- The Washington Post shut down one of its blogs Thursday after the newspaper's ombudsman raised the ire of readers by writing that lobbyist Jack Abramoff gave money to the Democrats as well as to Republicans. At the center of a congressional bribery investigation, Abramoff gave money to Republicans while he had his clients donate to both parties, though mostly to Republicans.

Is This a Surprise?

Does the fact that 'West Wing' is being canceled surprise you? Guess Martin Sheen will have to team up with Al Gore for a comeback...handcuff themselves to a tree maybe

Update 7: NBC Cancels 'West Wing' After 7 Seasons - Forbes.com
NBC's political drama "The West Wing," which briefly made bureaucrats hip and won four Emmy awards for best drama, will end this spring with the inauguration of a new fictional president. NBC announced the series' conclusion after seven seasons on Sunday. In the end, it fell victim to television's democratic process: sinking ratings, particularly after this season's move to Sunday nights.
and in other news -- the other liberal fantasy is failing too!
A shrinking mandate for 'Commander'
“Commander In Chief’s” Geena Davis may have walked away with the Best Actress in a Drama award during Monday’s Golden Globes, but among the American voting public she's sliding in the opinion polls that matter most, the ratings.
