...and it begins!
PELOSI SAYS BIRTH CONTROL WILL HELP ECONOMY
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi boldly defended a move to add birth control funding to the new economic "stimulus" package, claiming "contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government."
Pelosi, the mother of 5 children and 6 grandchildren, who once said, "Nothing in my life will ever, ever compare to being a mom," seemed to imply babies are somehow a burden on the treasury.
How much further a move would it be to say "abortion (selective) is needed to assist in managing the economy - Yep, I can see nothing but good things, in the recent move to make our "free" economy state ran, NOT!

Global warming - Believe it, below is the evidence -
First Day With A Low Colder Than -10 In Chicago In More Than A DecadeThe National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning until noon Friday. The forecast high for Thursday is expected to linger in the negative range at -2, dropping to -15 overnight. Strong northwest winds are producing wind chill factors of -25 to -40.
Record snowfall, plunging temperatures hit the areaA new record was set Wednesday when Chicago had its ninth consecutive day of measurable snowfall, according to the National Weather Service.
The previous record was eight consecutive days set from Dec. 13 to 20, 1973.
How cold is it? Flint's 95-year-old record low falls as 19 below zero hits cityFlint broke a 95-year-old record early Wednesday morning when the temperature plummeted to a frigid 19 below zero. The previous record? Minus 10, set in 1914, according to the National Weather Service.
Well maybe NOT! One question, what was the reason for such high temperatures 95 years ago - Was this the start of the global warming???
...and another story about how to hold our children accountable...
SEATTLE - Washington state law does not bar teachers from having consensual sex with 18-year-old students, an appeals court ruled Tuesday in dismissing a case against a former high school choir teacher.
The teacher, Matthew Hirschfelder, was charged with first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor for allegedly having sex with a Hoquiam High School senior in 2006. He challenged a judge's refusal to dismiss his case, arguing the student wasn't a minor because she was 18.

Here is a novel idea - The AP reports that parents and teaching children to be responsible for their actions is needed for their online protection.
"should not overly rely upon any single technology or group of technologies as the primary solution," the task force said.
"Parents, teachers, mentors, social services, law enforcement and minors themselves

Well they announced - What do you think??? Not exactly what I was looking for; however, I will not condemn it. I DO hope they keep support their current units for some time since I am still doing more than my coworkers with my poor little palm device then they can do or know how to do with their Iphone or RIM devices.
Not good news for a state that tells us abstinence works...
Mississippi Highest Teen PregnancyDon't misunderstand - I am for abstinence, I just think it is moot without teaching God, family, morals, and ethics along with"abstinence".

If anyone out there is interested - Me I am ready for a new Palm OS, since I prefer palm to either MS or Apple, at least for mobile devices...there simplicity has always been a welcome change.
Exclusive: New Palm phone to have slide-down keyboard, large touchscreenWe have information from a trusted source that the latest Palm smartphone running the Nova operating system will be launched Thursday.

Some
Hobbyist Software titles I would recommend are Reset Doctor, great for finding what app could be causing crashes and to stop random crashes.
Butler is a great addition to any Palm Device - Multiple alarms, an attention grabber, enhanced speed, etc.
Power Hero is an essential addition to extend time between charges - Take care of what is on and when it is on.

Phone Technician allows you multi-task with your Palm OS smart phone... Try all of these, but if you keep them please ensure you pay the developer...so he can continue to maintain these products and introduce better one.
If you are a palm loyalist as I am, having used a palm device since they were operated by "regular" batteries, you will want to look at this launcher by
Hobbyist Software... It takes the
normal function of a launcher to the next level to meet the needs of a
smartphone. Hope you will give it a try, the developer allows you to download a full functioning copy to try before buying - He also has a challenge for you!!!!
Try it you might like and if you don't you might save some money - I tried and liked it!

'If you haven't already heard - Palm launched an "app store" that is Palm OS & Win Mobile.
Not even close! Imagine my surprise when a actual newspaper tells us some truth - Really how do you compare something to '29 when it ain't even as bad as '79???
The Economic Crunch: Today's money troubles 'not even close' to 1929 collapse"They ain't tough enough to make it back yonder," says 94-year-old Beatrice Boyd, who had seven sisters, six brothers, and was the daughter of a Covington sharecropper. "They talk about hard times now? It ain't no hard time now."
Dr. Dale Bails, dean of business at Christian Brothers University, agrees.
"She's right," he said. "There's no comparison. None. It's not even close."
It is going to be a bad Christmas shopping season, right? I ain't believing it! It was reported Black Friday was 10% better than 2007; however, one week later we hear the gloom and doom - Worst season in decades! Right, in a week we go from super to sucks..don't believe it, don't get suckered into it's the end as we know it and "the government has to save us" process. Anyone reading this remember Carter and mortgage rates between 19 and 28%?
I am out with my wife shopping, well I shopped at best buy, now I am sitting in Starbucks waiting on her - The place is packed as it is every year. Then I read the below story - People are spending and spending well...news like this doesn't fit the mold!
SEATTLE - Online retailer Amazon.com Inc. called this holiday season its "best ever," saying Friday that it saw a 17 percent increase in orders on its busiest day - a rare piece of good news in a season...

Like in previous years I wanted to post the Thanksgiving proclamation.
WHEREAS, It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor;
WHEREAS, Both the houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"
Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted' for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have show kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.
